More about the area
About
At Chalet Truman we know what makes the perfect family getaway, which is why we offer holiday rental in the stunning French alps. Our four-bedroom property nestled in the tranquil hamlet of Les Albertans makes the ideal base for families wishing to explore the area, of course ever-popular in ski-season, but now more than ever a massively desirable summer destination. Think endless adventure, incredible dining and breathtaking views all on your doorstep. Think Chalet Truman.
Adventure Awaits
Staying at Chalet Truman means that the opportunity for adventure is only a stone’s throw away.
Winter means skiing, snowboarding, ice-skating and a whole host of other seasonal sports, but summer in the Alps is just as exciting. For the thrill seekers, rafting, hiking, mountain-biking, rock-climbing and paragliding are all available locally, whilst nearby resorts such as Avoriaz offer more relaxed activities too, such as tennis, padel, trampolining and crazy golf.
Travelling to the neighbouring areas is an activity in itself: a short walk up the ancient mountain path, past a picturesque waterfall, leads you to Ardent. From here a Gondola lift operates in holiday seasons to carry tourists to Les Lindarets, a beautiful village dotted with local eateries and shops, as well as the home to a friendly goat herd. The chairlifts of Les Lindarets then offer incredible opportunities to take in the views as they carry you to Avoriaz or even to the Swiss border.
Culture
We know that high-octane activity is not for everyone, so Chalet Truman’s location caters to those seeking relaxation or immersion in local culture too.
History-buffs can enjoy the ruins of Notre Dame d’Aulps Abbey, which dates back to approximately 1095, whilst literature lovers can delight in the landscape which inspired writers such as Lord Byron and Percy Shelley.
Moreover, the drive to Les Albertans from Geneva airport passes Lake Geneva, which is the known muse for Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein.
Boutique-shopping, traditional boulangeries and fromageries can be found in the nearby towns of Morzine and Les Gets, which are easily accessible via local bus routes (buses are often free of charge). These towns also offer a wide-array of food and drink, as well as children’s activities.
Local Dining
Everyone associates France with its incredible food and drink, and we can personally testify for the amazing quality of the local restaurants. There are several lakeside eateries within easy walking distance, including L’Auberge du Bout du Lac, Hotel du Lac, Lactuel, and Restaurant Le Verdoyant, all of which offer traditional dishes such as fondue and tartiflette alongside a wide-ranging menu.
Foodies of the family can rejoice as all nearby towns have excellent bars, cafes, creperies and restaurants to enjoy. Chalet Truman also provides self-catering facilities for those wishing to try their hand at making the local cuisine, or to knock-up a simple breakfast before the day’s adventures!
